The Sudanese president Omar El Bashir has to attend a chief of state from Arab countries meeting in Doha ( Qatar ) at the end of this month of March. But uncertainty about his attendance at the meeting is still high. The Sudanese head of State fears a possible kidnap on his way to Qatar by the French army.

Ali Sadig the Sudanese foreign affairs ministry's spokesperson has indicated to the media that the kidnapping of the president would be contrary to the law. He further said that it's a criminal offence even if its perpetrated by the International Criminal Court of Justice. He was referring to allegations that a french official had alleged that if President El Bashir decided to go to Qatar, military planes would be sent to hijack his flight in international airspace and bring him to the Hague. Omar El basher is subject to an international arrest warrant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur . Qatar had pledged to prevent any attempt of arrest of Bashir. An Arabic language newspaper based in London quoted the French foreign affairs ministry's spokesperson Eric Chévalier as saying " France like many other countries is a signatory of the Rome agreement. There are clear obligations on the execution of the arrest warrant against Bashir. Paris firmly support any operation to arrest Bashir".
If President Bashir travels, this will be his first foreign trip since the issue of the Arrest warrant.
The Sudanese President's fear is the reason why foreign aid agencies are no longer welcome in Sudan . They are accused of spying on the president and providing intelligence information to those on alert to arrest him.
However yesterday, the Sudanese head of State had travelled to Eritrea. Eritrea is considered to be one of the countries that fight against western domination. The trip was kept secret for fear of the French military based in Djibouti at Camp Lemonier.
