In a move widely seen as an appeasement to the Ethiopian government's frustration over the airing of a reportage featuring the Oromo Liberation Front OLF in Kenya , and also the discontentment of the United States of America , the Kenyan leadership has deported two Eritreans, a diplomat and a businessman.
A splinter nation from Ethiopia , Eritrea is seen as transit country for terrorists in the region. They are also accused to support the Al – shabaab, a Somali militia linked to Al – Qaeda and determined to overthrow the Somali transitional government.
During her recent visit to Kenya , the US 's Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton made it clear that the U.S. will take action to the interference of Eritrea in Somalia affairs. But the Eritrean top diplomat in Nairobi , Mr. Salih Omar Abdu was quick to deny the involvement of his country into the Somalia turmoil. He also urged the US to abide by international laws since there are no evidences implicating his country in all claims.
He was also quick to refute the claims that one of his diplomats has been deported. This contradicts the Immigration public communications, Ephantus Njeru who told a local weekly paper, the Sunday Nation that two Eritreans had been deported on security grounds.
To square the situation, Mr. Osman Saleh Mohamed, Eritrea 's foreign affairs is in Nairobi in quest to meet Kenya 's President Mwai Kibaki who is said not keen to meet the Minister. He finally opted to meet the Mr. Moses Wetangula. Kenya 's top diplomat and give the message to be handed to President Kibaki.
