Cameroon Head Coach Otto Pfister Resignes
News about his imminent resignation filtered through after he failed to join the Indomitable Lions for a training camp in Belgium earlier in the week.

According to cafonline.com , the 71-year-old apparently resigned on the spot after an incident at the airport before they boarded their flight for Belgium.

On arrival in Belgium the veteran coach headed elsewhere as the team trooped to the hotel. According to an exclusive interview to bcc.com , Otto decided to quit a day after he learned about the dismissal of his assistant and naming of other three officials to the team without his knowledge.
"I was in Europe getting news on some of my players when I heard about the dismissal of my assistant, Mr Gweha Ikouam Junior as well as the appointment of three other people onto my staff," said Pfister.
"As this decision had been taken without consulting me, I have chosen to resign. I insist on praising the work of Mr Gweha, the best assistant I have ever worked with."

He also made it clear that he will not be reversing his decision, saying, "I have seen the (Cameroon Football Association) officials; I travelled to Yaounde to meet with them. But all I did was to confirm that my decision was firm and final."

Pfister who was the Africa manager of the year in 1992, has been under pressure since a 1-0 loss to Togo in a 2010 World Cup qualifier last March and has been criticised by many Cameroonians, among them Roger Milla, The Lions' icon.

After been enlisted in 2007, the German tactician led the Cameroon to the finals of the CAF African Cup of Nations 2008, where they lost 1-0 to Egypt.
