The link between Bukavu and Uvira is getting closer and closer to reality under the aegis of the Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency, AFTTCC. This technical body immersed in mobilizing funds and providing technical support in the implementation of integration projects for the various governments of the member countries of the central corridor continues to outdo challenges on the ground.

With the imminent launch of the rehabilitation and construction of the Uvira – Bukavu road on its section between Uvira – Luberezi and the start of the second phase of the Luberezi – Bukavu feasibility studies. These aggregates will standardize National Road number 5 within sub-regional dimensions and make it a competitive infrastructure for the facilitation of trade within the central corridor.

This is a boost in the development of multimodal infrastructure that depends on the advocacy led by the Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency, AFTTCC, relating to the mobilization of more than 3 million US dollars from partner countries and funding partners.

At the heart of sub-regional interests, the rehabilitation of National Road number 5 was on the menu of the meeting between the Executive Secretary of the AFTTCC, Dieudonné Dukundane and the Deputy Mayor of Uvira. Dukundane confirmed the imminent flag off of the rehabilitation works on this infrastructure and that of the beginning of the second phase of feasibility studies after the mobilization of funds to the tune of more than 30 million US dollars.

The Deputy Mayor of Uvira, Kifara Kapend Kiki, hailed the efforts made and expressed many expectations that will certainly improve the living conditions of the population of his constituency.

Dieudonné Dukundane then took the opportunity to announce the holding of a mini-summit in the course of March 2022 which will bring together the various stakeholders gathered within the Central Corridor in Kinshasa.
