As part of the implementation of the activities of the project « taking into account the specificities of peoples dependent on forests in the new land bill of the DRCongo » , the NGO Congo Watch, CW ASBL, with the technical and financial support of Rights Resources Initiative, RRI organized in Kinshasa on Tuesday, October 11, a national workshop with the aim of validating a Note of New Contributions, NNC, which takes into account the new proposals and wishes of the base and which will be shared with CONAREF and the Ministry of Land Affairs to ensure their inclusion in the future land bill of the DRC which will be adopted by parliament and promulgated by the Head of State.
Professor Lapika, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CW-ASBL gave the reasons for the consultations and visits to the field by the members of his NGO before the workshop was held.
We wanted in this phase of the development of this bill that the specificities of the peoples dependent on the forest be taken into account, and this is why we organized consultations and surveys on the ground in the 3 provinces of the North Ubangi, South Ubangi as well as Mongala, to meet the direct beneficiaries of this new law, to collect their major concerns so as to integrate these concerns into the bill in preparation which will soon be transmitted to the National Assembly and the Senate

He added that this workshop has purposes, innovation and the development of a defendable document in all forums.
On his part, Mr. Simplice Mutombo from CONAREF made a point of illustrating what the accompaniment of the said project consists of,
the land reform process is underway, the implementation of the land reform is the next big step, now we have prepared texts, documents, tools that allow us to go towards the implementation of this reform, therefore modification of things as they are done on the ground.
Simplice Mutombo | CONAREF
Mrs. Mathilde Roffet, Program Director of CW-ASBL finds that the particularity of the new law must reside in the management of the land by all.
In the new law, what we would like is access to land for all and management of land for all.
Mathilde Roffet | CW ASBL
Having been invited from Nord-Ubangi as a delegate, Mrs. Chantal Basa says she is happy to participate in this land law revision workshop, in order to reflect together with the authorities on the said law, because usually only targeted people were chosen, usually lawyers.
We want specificities to be taken into account. For example, the participation of women and young people… people do not yet have the culture to involve the notion of gender and also to involve everyone and all categories in the management of public affairs.
Chantal Basa | Delegate
Among the expected results of this workshop we retain:
• make participants aware of CW-ASBL’s vision and line of intervention
• demonstrate the main conclusions of the consultations of the peoples dependent on the forests of the provinces of North and South Ubangi, as well as Mongala.
