The Central Corridor Transit Transport Facilitation Agency, CCTTFA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with MARINE SERVICES COMPANY LIMITED (MSCL) of Tanzania to facilitate market research activities on Lakes Tanganyika and Victoria within the Corridor Central.

This Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Executive Secretary of the AFTTCC, Senior Counsel Flory Okandju Okonge and the Managing Director of Marine Services Company Limited, MSCL, Eric Hamisi of Tanzania and took place at MSCL Headquarters in Mwanza, Tanzania.

The signing of this memorandum of understanding is part of the support to MSCL that will last 3 years as a continuation of the previous funding, which supports the training of MSCL employees in order to improve their capacity for the smooth running of the company.

Apart from facilitating market research activities, the MoU also consists of revising tariffs and fees and capacity building for the communication department of the MSCL. This support amounts to 72,000 US dollars.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the CCTTFA, Maître Okandju Okonge Flory reiterated the agency’s commitment to continue the existing partnership between the two institutions with the aim of improving transport services on Lake Victoria and Lake Tanganyika bordering the Central Corridor Member States.

As part of the implementation of the strategic plan of our institution, we have the responsibility to stimulate and develop maritime transport on the lakes that border the member states of the central corridor, namely Lake Victoria and Lake Tanganyika. Marine Services Company Limited is a major player in achieving this mission and I promise you that we will continue our cooperation as your success is a great benefit to our citizens and to this region.
