The Congolese company Era-Congo, a fully owned subsidiary of the American carbon credit giant, Wildlife Works, is establishing itself as a pillar of development in the Mai-Ndombe province of the Democratic Republic of Congo through its Mai-Ndombe Redd+ project. The company is positively involved in all sectors of development, Health, Education, agriculture etc.
Era Congo effectively supports the educational sector in its project area and beyond. The Wildlife Works subsidiary has built and rehabilitated 30 schools, supports the remuneration of more than 1,215 teachers in 130 schools and this year paid the participation fees in national tests for 1,798 secondary school finalists in the Mai -Ndombe province. This support is not limited to primary and secondary education but also tertiary education.
During a recent meeting with Mai-Ndombe’s tertiary students studying in Inongo, Wildlife Works’s DRC Country Director, University Professor Jean-Robert Bwangoy, committed to increasing scholarships rates and equipping students with smartphones and computers that will be used to advance their studies. Era Congo scholarships allow students at Inongo to feed themselves and afford accommodation.
Jean-Robert Bwangoy urged students from Mai-Ndombe to take the evaluation tests which give the opportunity to students who obtained 60% and more to study at the University of Kinshasa and even in the United States at Era Congo expense.
“I asked the students who obtained more than 60% in our test to go study in Kinshasa. You must make efforts to succeed in your studies so that tomorrow you can have a promising future. I encourage you to work hard. The only key to success is work. For our part, we will do the best we can to support you. You must be among the best, because at the end of the line, there are scholarships to further your studies in the United States. There are students who are traveling to the USA with ERA scholarships.”

This project will be carried out in 3 phases, first the construction of the building, the provision of remote sensing and spatial analysis equipment and the strengthening of human resources capacities made up of lecturers from the natural resources management department and civil servants from the ministry of environment and sustainable development.
